About Uncoasted
Uncoasted is for the riders who never get to coastal surf. We live inland — on lakes, on reservoirs, behind boats — and we built this site because every wakesurf and wakeboard buying guide kept assuming you'd already figured out which board, which rope length, which ballast setup, which PFD cut. We hadn't.
How we pick gear
We feature gear that meets three tests: it's something we'd actually take to the lake, the brand stands behind it past the first season, and the price-to-performance line is honest. We won't list a $1,500 board with no real-world feedback just because it ranks well.
How we make money
Every "Buy at retailer" link goes through Shopify Collabs. When you click and buy, the retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is the same. We don't take payment to feature products, we don't write sponsored "reviews," and we will pull anything we feature if it stops being worth recommending.
Wear your PFD
One last thing. We're picky about safety. Every featured board, rope, and ballast bag assumes you're riding in a US Coast Guard-approved life jacket, with a sober driver, and with a clean line of sight behind the boat. If you're new to this, start with our safety basics guide before anything else.
